4 Year Anniversary
Time flies when you're working your tail off, day and night, to cross the finish line.
Wow! It was four years ago today when Timothy Smith of Canon USA, Inc said "Yes, absolutely," to my small documentary. In essence, Tim greenlit my project with those words. My unexpected and sudden access to Canon's workhorse camera and beautiful glass (lenses) is what set me on the path of physical production on Misima.
Tim, you give our stories life!
For a year and a half, I carried Canon's EOS C300 by hand through the dense forests and up the steep mountains. I loved looking through the eyepiece. When I was exhausted, light-headed, or covered in sweat or red ants, I would look through the eyepiece, compose a frame. Like meditation, I would be lifted out of the uncomfortable physical sensations and transported into an imagined theater where I would look at the beautiful images flash across the screen.
Thank you, Tim, for spreading the Canon love down to us smaller independent filmmakers. You’ve given our stories life!
The first official Misima trailer will drop on social media on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
